With his trademark 12-string Rickenbacker guitar and sweetly soaring voice, Byrds leader Roger McGuinn pioneered folk rock, psychedelic rock, and country rock, influencing artists from the Beatles to Tom Petty to R.E.M. But even since the Byrds disbanded in 1973 McGuinn has enjoyed a vital and rewarding solo career, releasing albums embracing both experimental eclecticism and straight-forward rock, as well as revisiting his folk roots. McGuinn continues to tour and record, playing concerts to sold-out venues across the U.S. and around the world.
