THE VELVET UNDERGROUND
Singles 1966—69 7 x 7" Single Box Set
Sundazed is proud to release The Velvet Underground Singles 1966—69, a 7 x 7" single box set honoring the legendary New York combo's 7" vinyl output in their rare mono versions. The set features exact reproductions of Velvet Underground singles, two of them with their original picture sleeves. The singles are packaged in a distinctively designed box, along with rare vintage photos and new liner notes by Rolling Stone's David Fricke (who also penned the acclaimed notes for the historic 1995 Velvets CD box set Peel Slowly and See).
The Velvet Underground—whose membership included Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker, Doug Yule and Nico—introduced numerous sonic and thematic innovations that laid much of the groundwork for punk and alternative rock. Although they're now acknowledged as one of the most influential bands in rock history, during their existence the Velvets barely registered on mainstream radar, and were often reviled by mainstream observers as well as hippie-era arbiters of cool. But, as Fricke writes in the new set's liner notes, "Somewhere, in another rock & roll universe, the Velvet Underground are more than a legendary band. They are stars, with hit singles—the original seven-inch masterpieces inside this box."

I am mesmerized by the quality of your work. I did not know it until I got the Velvet Underground box set. You should be so proud about working in a place that makes such a difference! I live in Brazil and there's no record label here doing something close to sundazed's work. Congratulations from Brazil!
Sundazed throws another perfect game!

I've been buying Sundazed stuff since the mid-nineties, and this is one of my very favorite releases on the label. Keep up the great work, you guys - the VU box is a thing of beauty.

VARIOUS ARTISTS
2131 South Michigan Avenue: 60's Garage & Psychedelia from USA and Destination Records
Sundazed once again arrives to the rescue with an exhaustive dive into the pure, undiluted garage side of USA and Destination Records; tapping into everything from priceless artifacts from the Lost Agency, the Foggy Notions, and Park Avenue Playground to label hitmakers the Buckinghams, the Cryan' Shames, and the Flock at their most rockin'. There's so much impossibly great music on these labels, we had to expand this collection to 40 tracks.

"Guys, this is AMAZING! ...The clean sound is amazing. Even "Ben Frank's" sounds like little echo at all and so clean! The Flock "Sun" version is REALLY cool as well! The package is incredible. The photo of Golden and Traut is priceless!! The notes on the artists are great! Great job by all those involved! ...Also, nice tribute to Jeff Lind! He should never be forgotten."

"...I got your 3 record 2131 South Michigan Avenue set in the mail a couple of weeks ago, and once more you guys have outdone yourselves. It's outstanding in every way. Even better than the recent Remains set which I doubted you could ever top. There is obviously no shortage of true genius at Sundazed and speaking as a happy consumer, thank god for that."

"Bob/Tim/Bill:
Just a quick email as I scrape my jaw off the floor after opening the LP jacket spread for USA Destination. Holy %$#@, that has to be the greatest LP packaging I have ever seen/clutched/whatever. I can't wait to slap this on the turntable (gently... this is now my prize possession).
Congrats,
Jarema"

"WOAH! I just got my USA Story LP's today, I have not even played yet, but let me say that this may be the most fantastic package Sundazed has done to date. WOW Just freakin'gorgeous!!! Been waiting a long time for this especially since I had to sell my original Park Avenue Playground. More after I get it on the high-Fi!"...
..."Just finished listening to all 3 LP's from 2131 South Michigan Ave. Out of 10 I give it an 11! What a joy that in 2009 something this amazing has been produced! This is a work of art and the fact that that a vinyl version has been given this much love is a real testament to what kind of company Sundazed is!"

Oscar and the Majestics
First of all, I'm sure you hear it all the time but I wanted to let you guys know that you are a wonderful label. I recently picked up 2131 South Michigan Avenue. Like all of your releases, your treatment of the music, the liner notes, and the packaging were great. It's great to be exposed to great Chicago garage bands that haven't been on cd before.
Many thanks,
-Stuart
MOBY GRAPE
The Place and the Time
While 1967's Moby Grape is widely acknowledged as a classic (and one of rock's greatest debut albums), the subsequent Wow, Moby Grape '69 and Truly Fine Citizen are all underrated gems with much to recommend them. It's a measure of the musicians' abundance of talent and creativity that, despite the multiple roadblocks that they confronted, Moby Grape recorded prolifically and cut a wealth of originally unreleased material. The Place and the Time offers a scintillating assortment of rare tracks cut during the band's heady 1967-1968 heyday. Encompassing audition recordings, album outtakes, alternate versions, live material and more, the recordings offer a powerful testament to the remarkable rapport that made Moby Grape such a unique force.

"I just wanted to let you know how cool your recent Moby Grape release The Place and the Time is. This disc is in my CD player all the time now. As an avid Moby Grape fan I had purchased your Wow CD with the bonus tracks and I already had the 2-CD collection Vintage so I thought I had covered most of the important unreleased tracks, but your cd has really turned my head around. Even though I was familiar with many of the tracks on The Place and the Tim , putting them in that context changed everything!!! The CD holds up as true Moby Grape release rather than a hodgepod of tracks culled from the first four albums.
I also purchased your Byrds Live at Royal Albert Hall 1971 release which is also great. I read that Sundazed may release more Byrds live CDs which is awesome! Do you know what's next? In any case keep up the great work and I'll keep buying."

"Just finished listening to this. And if anyone was looking at the track listing and saying "I have all of this already" -- no you don't. There are some interesting remixes and/or different takes of some of the songs that first appeared on 'Vintage.' Get it!"
-Mike Fornatale
"Arguably, and based on the power of the debut alone, the greatest west coast psych band of the 60s. Looks like a keeper!
-Lee Jackson
"...have been playing this album continously tonight (has also made me dig out their back catalogue)-it is brilliant!"
-"The Reverend Dante"
"This release provides access to many unreleased gems... This is real stuff, music which leaves most current wannabe bands in the dust (even their throwaway tracks are steller). Anyone interested in good music should add this release to their collection. 'Nuff said."
-Samuel
"This is the album to get for Moby Grape fans. Alternate and unreleased tracks from the first two yrs of Moby Grape (the best yrs) are great, in stereo, and sound great. There are some instrumentals that are excellent. ...This album brings back these times so much--great vocals and excellent guitar work. Great drums also. You just have to get this one--bring back the best guitar band of the sixties. Long live the memories—and rest in peace—Skip Spence."
-J.R.
"Even if you're new to the Grape it's never too late. Embrace this recording and appreciate this music since there hasn't been anything even remotely this good in ages!! The best wine comes from the ripest Grapes!!"
-David
"Moby Grape still is one of my all time favourite bands. And Alexander Spence's Oar is a unique masterpiece."
-Martin Pulaski
"Moby Grape is an amazing band. I grew up listening to their albums on a reel to reel that belonged to my aunt and uncle before they moved out. Those are some good memories."

MARK SEBASTIAN
Bleecker Street
At an age when many young kids would be more concerned with how to score the phone number of that cute girl in Geometry class, Mark Sebastian wrote a song that shot straight to #1 on the national pop charts. Mark’s big brother, John Sebastian, was the frontman for the Lovin’ Spoonful, already permanent residents of the U.S. Top Ten with a series of 1965–66 smashes that included “Do You Believe in Magic,” “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice” and “Daydream.” After he played his sparkling new song, “Summer in the City,” for his older brother, Mark’s life would never be the same.

Mark Sebastian's Bleecker Street has struck me like lightning and I’m proud to say he’s become one of my top ten musicians!

The album starts with the strong “Stage One” and it continues uphill from there. In a short hour he sums up many of the musical styles I grew up with, and stays true to them, but with his own atmosphere and personality. The genres are so varied you can piece the songs into different moods - and they‘re suitable for much more than a sunny day. “From Windows In The Village” is an homage to the summer (in the city). His Blues songs are darker based on the witty, humorous lyrics, like “Was It Me?”;
“My brother owed me money. I saw him by a brand new limousine. Someone blew it up last night. Now he’s back on the bus again. Was it me, oh Lord?”
Mark’s guitar playing and his vocal skills are evident in “Firefight”, The Great Mistake”, “Deal With The Devil”, “Moonlight Sonata”. Did I mention “Stage one”? Then the album ends with “The Calm Before The Storm” as a grande finale.
Today my favourite is “It’s An Outlaw World” - tomorrow it may be another one from Bleecker Street.

Hello Bob Irwin and Sundazed. I want to thank you for the Gram Parsons: Another Side of This Life!
I've been a fan of Parsons since I heard his solo albums and him with the Burritos in 2005. I'm 24 years old so I wasn't there to see the greatness of this man.
I just want to tell you I was really inspired by this album and it made a big influence on me as a songwriter aswell back in 2006.
These stripped down acoustic songs are so real and pure you can almost feel like you're in the same room as Gram, it's just surreal.

High Tide
Sea Shanties LP
Continuing in its ongoing mission to return underappreciated vintage psychedelic gems to the marketplace, Sundazed presents High Tide's beloved 1969 British cult classic Sea Shanties as it was originally meant to be heard, in the 12" vinyl LP format.
A one-of-a-kind collision of psychedelia, prog and heavy rock, Sea Shanties embodies the darker edge of psychedelic rock, while presaging the wave of heavy metal combos that would soon emerge in Britain. Although it's been out of print in the United States for decades, Sea Shanties has attracted a fervent cult following in recent years, making this release a particularly timely one.

"This was an extremely important album in my musical education. Really interesting sounds and rhythms. I saw the band live in Southampton in 1972/3 and they were hugely energetic and entertaining. The drummer especially - I still have the half of a broken drumstick complete with his blood! Sadly I parted with the vinyl many years ago when I was strapped for cash. I believe it was at the same time as I sold my treasured (and valuable) Arcadium. I'd love to add Sea Shanties to my collection again!"
-Rip Gooch
"Classic album!"
-Eric Colin Reidelberger
"I grew up with this LP! But it entered my life harboring a great myth. The cousin who gave it to me, told me it was really Jim Morrison & Hendrix, recording under fake names. Ahhh, the pre-google days. Back when such myths could gestate long enough to develop wings, before being shot down by the wiki-riffle."

Jeff Beck
Truth (Mono Edition)
Jeff Beck, as visionary a guitarist, in his own way, as Jimi Hendrix, certainly heads anyone's list of most exciting rock 'n' roll fretboard whizzes ever. Beck made his name as the second of three hall of fame stringbenders for the equally legendary Yardbirds (following in the shoes of Eric Clapton and preceding the pre-Zep Jimmy Page).
Known for his blistering leads and the wild chances he took as one of the first axemen to widely employ feedback during a solo, Beck hit the ground running when he left the Yardbirds in 1967 and would cut a pair of solo albums that didn't miss a beat from the greatness of his previous work.

Chocolate Watch Band
No Way Out
Sundazed is totally stoked to announce the reissue of the first two albums by the Chocolate Watch Band, high on everyone's list as one of the most exciting garage bands ever.
No Way Out kicks things off with an eye-opening nugget, "Let's Talk About Girls." It's a song that perfectly blends a stomping Chuck Berry rhythm track with the happening "boss sound," the psychedelic guitar. "Come On," an early Stones single, is given the perfect Jagger paint job, while "Are You Gonna Be There (At the Love-In)" captures the new tribal hippie culture in a nutshell. Sourced from the original analog masters!
