Mississippi Delta-born, Chicago-based Earl Hooker was one of the greatest of all postwar electric blues slide guitarists. A cousin to John Lee Hooker, he worked with Junior Wells, Muddy Waters, Ike Turner, and many others. Hooker also helped to popularize the double-neck guitar. Although he died from tuberculosis in 1970 at age 41, he continues to be worshipped for his jaw-droppingly smooth, clear, and clean style by the generations of guitar players who came after.
