A true eccentric of '60s British rock, David "Lord" Sutch–perhaps better known as Screaming Lord Sutch–worked with legendary producer Joe Meek and led bands comprised of such top UK scenesters as Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mitch Mitchell, Ritchie Blackmore, John Bonham, Nicky Hopkins, and others through unhinged takes of R&B standards and wild Halloween novelty tunes. Strongly influenced by that of his namesake Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Sutch's diabolical stage shows likewise offered an overdose of coffins, skulls, and the like.
