Something Weird - The Best Of Doris Wishman - Black Vinyl + DVD
Doris Wishman was one of the most prolific female filmmakers that most people have never heard of. The pint-size sleaze queen helmed a variety of oddball exploitation classics that featured unique gimmicks and unusual, sometimes shocking subject matter. The Best Of Doris Wishman features audio from theatrical trailers, original theme songs, as well as some jazzy incidental library music from legendary exploiteers in the Something Weird world that are cherished and adored for the body of work they created, plus a zine-style insert and a DVD filled with Doris’ outrageous oeuvre!
Doris Wishman’s movies have entertained, amused, shocked, and often confounded genre film fans for decades. You know you're in for a wild ride when "Produced and Directed by Doris Wishman'' appears in the opening credits. Self-taught and unencumbered by rules and expectations, Doris did her own thing, writing outrageous scripts derived from her wildly fertile imagination. The fact that she started making films at age 47 is mind-boggling in and of itself. Not very many nice middle-aged ladies in the 1960s were behind the camera shooting dirty movies. Needless to say, Doris was an iconoclast.
Her filmmaking style could be called different, quirky and individualistic, maverick and unencumbered by craft or rules - Wishman-esque with familiar stylistic devices and motifs she would use over and over and over. She was one of the few women working in the male-dominated “adult” film industry, and always held her own. Relentless and determined, Doris continued directing films until her death in 2002, once saying, “After I die I will be making movies in Hell!” We can only hope so. See you there, Doris…

An Organ Grindin’ Funky Good Time!
While this 1969 Whit Boyd film may be lost to obscurity, thanks to the discovery of the original audio reels this funk-fueled soundtrack is finally seeing the light of day! Sexy-time sounds of grooving organ, bass, drums, and brass, there’s even a down and dirty booty-shaker of a James Brown cover. The perfect accompaniment to get you in the mood for a lascivious love-in!
Party Girls was released the same year as the nutty horror nudie comedy, Dracula (The Dirty Old Man). Both movies reflect the changing mores of the time and feature full frontal nudity and simulated sex scenes. By 1969, obscenity laws were relaxed so bush and beaver were the new standard for adult motion pictures (and often the carpet didn’t match the drapes, haha!).
What blows our minds is that Party Girls had an original music soundtrack (not just library music or a mix of random local garage rock or jazz instrumentals like so many other regional productions at the time). They actually went to the trouble of composing a film score with a hell of a lot of soul. But sadly, nothing is actually known about who composed and performed the music, but we know they were commissioned by Whit, so we’ve embraced the name the Whit Boyd Combo. The original audio session reels were discovered in an abandoned shed and rescued by Dallas area disc jockey and music historian, George Gimarc, something which adds to the mystique and makes us wonder even more who could be responsible for the funky soundtrack.

Don’t Miss Party Girls • I Got The Feelin’ (Quickie) • Nikki And The College Boys • Party Scene / Strip Poker

Carras, Nicholas - The Doll Squad - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Green Vinyl + DVD
Bass, organ, wah wah, va-va voom!
• Comes with a DVD of the full 1973 spy thriller!
• Includes a dot matrix printed insert - for your eyes only!
• A slab of 70s film funk pressed on green vinyl!
The alleged inspiration for the hit television series Charlie’s Angels, Ted V. Mikels’ ‘73 spy thriller looks much better than it has any right to, with brash color, gorgeously attired babes, and some visually appealing shooting locations. Composer Nicholas Carras’ score for the film provided the perfect mix of Big Band, 1960s James Bond, and 1970s “wacka-wacka” funk filtered through the mind of a son of Greek immigrants. On vinyl for the first time, and including a DVD of the entire film with a special Modern Harmonic edit made to sync with the LP!
The Doll Squad is probably writer/director/editor/producer/special effects technician/etcetera Ted V. Mikels’ most mainstream film, as he clearly had commercial intentions for his 1973 escapist action flick. The plot doesn’t make you think too much, other than thinking about a bevy of voluptuous women who kick, shoot, and kill evil males bent on taking over the world. Exploitation doesn’t get any better than this!
Carras composed a rousing score using an augmented jazz band featuring brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, organ, electric guitar, and a few electronic devices to manipulate some of the sounds. This ensemble provided everything from seventies action music with wah-wah guitar to lovely melodies accentuating the gun-toting lovelies.

• LOTS OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCKS, ON THIRD MAN PRESSED YELLOW VINYL!
• INCLUDES A ZINE-STYLE INSERT WITH A GREAT SET OF NOTES FROM A BODACIOUS PAIR OF WRITERS, AND A DVD OF THE FILM PLUS A SPECIAL EDIT TO SYNC WITH YOUR LP!
A jazzy romp through the titillating ‘60s. On Mr. Peters’ Pets, composer Nicholas Carras ventures deep into the bongo-crazed percussion world of exotica! This is a jubilant jazz record with serious swagger.
The “film” on the other hand, is a low-budget adult comedy (a genre quaintly called a Nudie Cutie) from 1962. It’s possibly the silliest, dumbest, most ridiculous Nudie Cutie movie ever made! Follow Mr. Peters as he turns into various household pets for the sole purpose of getting a close and personal view of their well endowed owners!
Included here is a zine-style insert with a voluptuous set of notes and a DVD of the full feature film, with a special Modern Harmonic edit made to sync with your LP!
