Donovan - Barabajagal - Black Vinyl

In addition to being one of Donovan's edgiest and most ambitious releases, 1968's Barabajagal was the most commercially successful album of his career, reaching #4 in the U.S. and remaining on the Billboard album chart for more than a year. With instrumental backup by the Jeff Beck Group (including Rod Stewart and Ron Wood) on several tracks, as well as an all-star cast that includes Madeline Bell, Aynsley Dunbar, Lesley Duncan, Nicky Hopkins, John Paul Jones, Graham Nash and legendary British session guitarist Big Jim Sullivan, Barabajagal features an imaginative array of sounds that showcase some of Donovan's most adventurous compositions. Also on board is Paul McCartney, who contributes vocals and percussion on the album's biggest hit, the epic "Atlantis," which appears here alongside such Donovan favorites as "Barabajagal (Love Is Hot)," "Superlungs (My Supergirl)," "To Susan On the West Coast Waiting," "Trudi" and the effervescent "Happiness Runs." They all sound magnificent in Barabajagal's original true stereo mix, and this Aquarian age classic has never sounded better than in this definitive LP edition. On pristine QRP pressed vinyl!

    Track Listing:
Barabajagal • Superlungs My Supergirl • Where Is She • Happiness Runs • I Love My Shirt • The Love Song • To Susan On The West Coast Waiting • Atlantis • Trudi • Pamela Jo

Peter Isaacson - Sings Songs Of - Clear Yellow Vinyl

One voice, one guitar, one tranquilized trip

Isaacson’s voice is rich and warm, with hints of weary and optimism. His delivery, reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot or Cat Stevens, holds steady against the backdrop of his textured and restrained guitar playing. An interpreter of sound, his takes on these familiar originals are introspective, well thought variations that he truly makes his own. Fresh from the attic of the acid archives, this first ever reissue of this ‘71 gem features unissued selections from the original ‘60s session!

The story of Peter Isaacson and how this album came to be starts back in 1960s Wichita, Kansas, the place where Isaacson learned to play music and began himself a career as a folk musician and singer. By 1967, lured by the folkie scene that dominated New York City’s Greenwich Village, Peter made the move from the small town to the big city and soon found himself working as the house performer at Gerde’s Folk City, an establishment well known on the folk circuit as the place where “little Bobby Dylan worked making sandwiches” while starting his own career. It was here that Isaacson was provided the opportunity to play with the likes of Phil Ochs, The Blues Project, and Ian & Sylvia.

In 1968 Peter Isaacson made a return to Wichita and was invited to record the very songs he played on a nightly basis during his residency at Gerde’s, not only the songs of Bob Dylan, Donovan, Gordon Lightfoot, and Tim Hardin, but the songs of other popular folk artists of the 1960s, including Joni Mithcell and Leonard Cohen, as well as folk scene influencers like Willie Dixon and Blind Willie Johnson. This expanded edition of Isaacson’s debut album finally sees reissue over 50 years after its original release!

      Includes:

Both Sides Now (Joni Mitchell) • Blowin’ In The Wind (Bob Dylan) • Lalena (Donovan) • Trouble In Mind • Just Like A Woman (Bob Dylan) • Girl From The North Country (Bob Dylan) • I Threw It All Away (Bob Dylan) • Ribbon Of Darkness (Gordon Lightfoot) • I Shall Be Released • Black Sheep Boy (Tim Hardin) • Catch The Wind • Affair On 8th Avenue (Gordon Lightfoot) • Long Way Back Home (Gordon Lightfoot) • Early Morning Rain (Gordon Lightfoot) • In My Time Of Dying (Blind Willie Johnson)

Alan Munson - One Man's Journey - Blue Vinyl

One Man’s Journey is a compilation based on Alan Munson's real life happenings, a blend of singer-songwriter music and his experiences, accompanied by beautiful guitar and voice. It would be unfair to place Munson's music in a single genre — it’s a fusion of mellow psychedelic folk rock with the amazing atmosphere of the times.

Originally released as private pressings, his recorded songs have a very intimate feel. Wonderful harmonies and meaningful lyrics will get deep under your skin, and the stripped down production gives these songs an even more intense personal ambiance. At times you can even hear British influences coming through his music, think of Nick Drake and the like.

Cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio.

Sanctuary - self titled - Clear Vinyl

Progressive rock bent with a considerable amount of rock ‘n’ roll gospel soul!

Sanctuary’s virtuosity is undeniable, and every song displays each member’s considerable talents. The album is abundant with soaring and passionate vocal arrangements that are carried on high by the lively interplay of Norm Weinberg’s percussive flurries as they weave their way through a tapestry of flutes, strings, and guitars. Deeply resonant keyboards set the foundation for the band’s sound, and in fitting, albeit unsuspecting, fashion, it is Eric Bikales’ flute playing that shepherds the listener through the album.

Beginning with “All In My Dreams,” the flute’s light and colorful timbre captures the ear, serving as a clarion call for all to follow and creating moments of majesty, as music and message seamlessly transform into one. Sanctuary’s interpretations of Yes’s “Time And A Word” and Edgar Winter’s “Winter’s Dream” are not mere covers. They are bright and bold musical statements, refusals to submit to the negativity of the times. Their unique take on these compositions, as well as their own, provides the kind of bright eyed anthems their generation’s voice needed to compete against the backdrop of war and social upheaval dominating the headlines.

      Includes:

All In My Dreams • 1982A • Time And A Word • Had To Be • Winter’s Dream

Sunshine pop at its finest! Dotti Holmberg’s dreamy vocals superbly combine with her innocent demeanor and saccharine lyrics to give listeners a spell-binding mixture of sticky sweet bubblegum pop. This package features the former GoldeBriars’ demos and Curt Boettcher-produced studio recordings from 1966-1969. The CD includes 3 CD-only tracks from Dotti’s brother Gary!

After recording two albums for Epic and Columbia with The GoldeBriars, Dotti was left to forge a new path in the music business after the band broke up. She continued to write and record home demos in her Hollywood studio apartment, many of which are included here. A few years later, Dotti reconnected with ex-GoldeBriar Curt Boettcher. Curt, already recognized in Hollywood for his work with the Association, had started his own label: Our Productions.

With Curt’s help, Dotti became the backup singer on the recordings of Tommy Roe, Bobby Jameson, Friar Tuck, and Lee Mallory, who would eventually become a member of Boettcher’s new recording effort, the Millennium. Then, in the classic case of the backup singer who advanced to lead, Curt decided to produce five singles with Dotti. Two of the songs were hers. The studio where all this took place, Columbia Records Hollywood, shared an amazing new technology with Columbia Records New York: two twelve-track tape machines synchronized to harness a total of twenty-four tracks. And this was the new plaything for two very particular talents, one in New York, the other in L.A.: Paul Simon and Curt Boettcher.

The musicians who backed Dotti were pure cream: Mike Deasy, Ben Benay, Jerry Scheff, and Toxie French of the Wrecking Crew. But before the sides could be pressed, promoted and released, Our Productions went under and all of her recordings were shelved.

Now unearthed and released from the vaults, Sundazed Music is delighted to bring Dotti’s music to light once again.
