If anyone can be called the King of Texploitation, it's Walter Whitfield Boyd (May 15, 1923 - December 31, 1984)!

For nearly two decades, Dallas-based Boyd was a smut entrepreneur. On the surface, he maintained a veneer of respectability by joining the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and running a variety of mostly failed “legit” businesses. But behind the scenes, old Whit did it all! Boyd oversaw a sleaze empire, running adult movie theaters, bookstores, and a "modeling" studio in addition to producing, directing, and distributing sexploitation feature films. The names of his companies frequently changed, but Whit kept his brand going for years. He also had time to mix business with pleasure and made cameo appearances in a number of movies (with his second and third wives). Boyd’s legacy is little known and under appreciated, but he sure made his mark on the adult film industry in Texas.
